Clear Aligners and Braces

Clear Aligners

If you ever look in the mirror and wish you had a straighter smile, you aren’t alone. But did you know that a straighter smile is also a healthier smile? In fact, when your teeth are properly aligned, they are easier to keep clean and your oral health improves. Plus, you’ll feel more confident when you smile.

At The Aubrey Dentist, we have orthodontic options to help you achieve the smile that will help you feel your best. We offer both traditional braces and clear aligners to straighten your teeth. Most adults prefer clear aligners because they are comfortable and discreet while also effectively improving tooth misalignment.

The Science behind Spark™ Clear Aligners

What Are Clear Aligners?

Clear aligners are removable orthodontic devices that straighten teeth or correct gaps between teeth. They are nearly “invisible” trays that are customized for your mouth and desired smile.

When you choose clear aligners, your dentist takes a mold of your upper and lower rows of teeth. This mold provides a framework for creating the series of aligners you will wear to reach your desired smile.

Over the course of six months to a couple of years, depending on the amount your teeth will need to shift, you will wear a new set of clear aligners every 1-2 weeks. Each set moves your teeth a little bit more in the desired direction.

While you’re receiving treatment to straighten your teeth, you’ll visit us regularly so we can check on your progress and ensure that it’s as efficient and effective as possible.

Why Choose Clear Aligners?

Traditional, metal braces are always an effective choice for straightening teeth. However, it can feel embarrassing to wear them as an adult when you want to feel mature, sophisticated, and professional. In this case, clear aligners might be the best option for you.

Here are a few other reasons why clear aligners are ideal for adults.

Aligners are Comfortable

Traditional braces and clear aligners can both feel uncomfortable at first, especially since they are moving your teeth. However, clear aligners exert gentle pressure on your teeth that causes less pain, and they don’t have large metal pieces or wires that can rub against your gums and cheeks

Aligners are Easy to Care For

It’s difficult to clean around traditional braces and wires. However, clear aligners are much easier to care for. You can remove them twice a day to brush and floss, and you can simply rinse and clean the aligners themselves.

In fact, you won’t even eat with your aligners on, which prevents food from getting stuck in your removable orthodontics.

Aligners are Discreet

Metal braces stand out on your teeth when you smile. It’s hard to hide them for the duration of your treatment. Clear aligners are much less noticeable by others. It is worth noting that they do not completely disappear in your mouth, but they are transparent. This makes clear aligners much more suitable for adults.
